Let’s start with dying the eggs

Dying eggs red is one of the first and most important parts of Easter preparations. There are different ways of doing it. Using the madder plant is the most popular method. However, people have started to incorporate different dyes these days. You do not need to buy paints to color the eggs, you can instead use natural, safe ingredients such as the madder plant, onion skins, beetroot, purple cabbage, spinach, turmeric, coffee, green tea, etc.

Do not boil the eggs immediately after taking them out of the fridge to avoid cracking them. Before dying the eggs, wash them thoroughly or clean them with alcohol cloths. For a brighter color, keep the eggs in a dye overnight. You can apply sunflower seed oil to make the eggs look shiny.

Note that using blue, pink, or green is only possible for white-shelled eggs, brown-shelled eggs work well with red, brown, and yellow dyes.

To create a perfect dye, first, you need a base paint and then you mix it with different natural color products. Fill the pan with 1L water, add two spoons of white vinegar and then boil it. Pour the dye into the boiled water, and leave it on low heat for 30 minutes. Place the eggs into the pan after the liquid is cooled and filtered.

  To make a yellow dye, you need 2-3 spoons of turmeric. You can get the same effect with lemon or orange zest and grated carrot, too. 
• For the pink dye: Use 4 cups of chopped beetroot. The eggs will look brownish at first but after drying them, the shells will have a nice pink color.
• Blue: Use 3 cups of chopped and grated cabbage. The more you keep the eggs in the dye, the brighter they will look.
• Orange: Use onion skins.
• Green: Use boiled spinach or nettle, boil them for no less than an hour on low heat. Then cool it and add 1 spoon of vinegar. Then place eggs inside and boil the liquid again for 15 minutes.
• Red: Use the madder plant or cherries.

Besides dying the eggs, drawing their shells can be fun too. If you are good at drawing, this will be enjoyable for you. To make your eggs look beautiful and unique, you will need natural paints, nylon socks, leaves, and flowers of different shapes.

3. Remove the plants gently after dying the eggs and dry them well. Use oily cotton to give them a shiny look

One of the orthodox Easter traditions is Easter grass. You need to wash wheat seeds and keep them in warm water for 10-12 hours. Then wash the seeds again and place them in a closed container for 24 hours. The next day you will notice the roots. Place wet cotton on a plate and spread the wheat over it. The plate should be placed in a warm and sunny place. Keep the seeds moist and in 7-10 days, you will have the wheatgrass.
