A Parisian designer's ingenious scheme for a tiny apartment

French interior designer Marianne Evennou has become famous for her skillful ideas for arranging small apartments. One of her designed apartments was just an 11 sq.m. studio apartment.

In this blog, we will show you Marianne Evennou's designed studio apartment, which looks like a room of student accommodation. She managed to turn it into a real apartment with its own hall, kitchen, living room, bedroom, fitting room, office space, and bathroom.

Do you wonder how to organize a tiny space? Read our blog to get to know some secrets for arranging small apartments.

Creative color palettes

While designing an interior, paints are going to be your best friends. It is believed that using more than one color in a single space contributes to an illusion of a larger space. However, this is not the only way to create a sense of larger space. Different shades of colors together with shapes are effective in forming original visuals as well as maximizing space.

Flexible furnishings

In a small apartment, pieces of furniture are supposed to be moved around more often than usual. So, it’s better to purchase compact and easily movable furnishings. For example, Bistro folding tables and chairs should be a smart option in a kitchen.

Hidden depths

You will find smart organizing solutions at any corner of this apartment. For example, the water heater is hidden inside a bedroom wardrobe, while small wardrobes are built-in under windows.

Well-planed heating

Marianne Evennou gives priority to underfloor heating, which avoids radiator installations and frees up additional space. For this particular apartment, oak flooring tiles were chosen since these tiles are very thin and allow efficient transfer of heat.

Independent zones

As the apartment owners have said, the designer was planning to put the whole apartment down to build it over. But Marianne Evennou did the opposite. Her secret is in creating a number of distinct zones. She believes that zoning helps create functional spaces and makes an illusion of a multifunctional space and not a 25 sq.m. apartment.

Marianne Evennou's niche is incorporating atelier-styled interior windows. She finds it an effective way of creating natural light and expanding the space. Meanwhile, the windows placed this way have an aesthetic appeal too. As for creating privacy, one can add fabric Venetian blinds to the windows.
